 Establish Classroom Expectations and Procedures

Establish Classroom Expecations and Procedures

In terms of classroom management strategies, Establish is the foundation. In the EER framework, it includes two important parts: establishing expectations and establishing relationships.

Students cannot meet expectations that have not been clearly taught, modelled, and reinforced.  It is essential that teachers establish classroom expectations and procedures, but how is this done?

Establish Expectations involves creating 3-5 positively stated expectations that reflect the big three: Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe. Then, teach what these expectations look like explicitly, using modelling and practice.
